化學是一門重要的基礎科學，觸角遍及醫藥、食、衣、住、行，是二十世紀人類福祉大為躍進之重要推手。但全球社會對化學抱持的態度並非全然正向，主因即為化學工業在污染防制上未臻成熟。上個世紀末，「減少廢棄物、降低毒害、節省能源」的理性精神，終於灑下「綠色/永續化學」的種子，在世界各地緩慢發展生根，意圖將「帶來污染的化學」轉型為「對環境友善的化學」；台灣亦開始有學者開始投入這一波的「化學現代化」。如能掌握這波浪潮，早日讓艱鉅的轉型在台灣實現，必可帶來化學相關工業的競爭力，並抒解對環境造成之壓力。此乃化學家責無旁貸之使命。

為了讓更多同仁接觸綠色化學並起心找尋著力點，化學中心嘗試以資源共享的方式來降低進入綠色化學之門檻，特建立資源共享網，歡迎同仁使用並提供值得推薦之網頁連結。如此集眾人之力以減少各自搜尋之時間，或可加速綠色化學之推廣。
